Remember Jackie’s July 4th party last year?

    Yeah, me neither.

I remember that better than New Year’s, I’ll tell you that much.

Note that there are 6 posts tagged “drunk.” I also suspect this will not be the last one tagged “beer shower!”

I am totally in the right profession, dudes. If this conference was anything like a representative sample, then academia is basically talking about smart things all day, and drinking and dancing all night. Also, getting into random conversations about gay porn with historians. BEST CAREER CHOICE EVAR.

I read it too! I HEAR YOU M’FUCKERS!

But I have a more boring life than y’all, apparently. I’m working part-time-but-hopefully-full-time-soon as a video editor for a NYC theater new media/advertising firm. My job is to basically make YouTube videos for Broadway shows all day. Win.

I’m also doing a musical theater composition workshop. My 10-minute musical will be presented soon, so I guess I should probably write it…

Jackie, please don’t get mugged in Venezuela, that would suck a lot.

LIES LIES LIES I LOOK AT IT. Actually I happened to look on it for the first time in probs like 6 months but then saw that coincidentally you guys posted TODAY. So way to go on being on the same brain waves.

I finished my semester with a 4.0 YEAH STUPID COLLEGE. I’m about to head off to Venezuela for a week to sing at this random music festival with 3 other singers and the conductor of the Contemporary Music Ensemble who has loved me since she realized I could actually read music unlike some other people at this school. Apparently Caracas is in shambles and we’ve been instructed to bring no jewelry or electronics and to have ready a decoy wallet in case we got robbed. Although we apparently are going to have an escort everywhere we go and are staying in a 5star hotel. In conclusion: this is going to be the best. trip. ever. Hopefully I’ll return from it.

After that, I’ll be in B-town for the rest of the summer workin at my country club and taking a class on vocal repertoire. I will be doing my masters recital at the end of July if anyone wants to make a trip out here 🙂 I wish SO MUCH I could come back to the UK to see you Kate but I don’t think it’s going to happen 😦 BOOOOOOO.

OH! Also I got a role in IU’s production of “Little Women” which will be in October so I’m excited about that. It was written by Mark Adamo…did you know he’s married to John Corigliano who wrote “Ghosts of Versailles”? FYI bitches. Loves you

For those of you who missed the bulletin, today was my last day at the Kennedy Center, and the National Symphony staff went bowling. Composer John Adams decided to tag along. As we were leaving the building after bowling two games and being crushed by the man (who must be well in his 70s), he says, “This is the first time I’ve left a bowling alley sober…”

Yeah, you need to post this to facebook or some such, because as we know it you and I are the only ones who update this blog, and I want to know what’s happening in the lives of all the others I care about. DO YOU HEAR ME M’FUCKERS?

Anyway, that’s awesome. I’m just about on my way to accepting the offer to go to Durham for my PhD and become a blowhard academic for the rest of my life. Um…yeah. So, not nearly as exciting as sharing bar space with amazing composers, but I’m getting my dues. I hope everyone else is doing awesomely, or at least getting soused with cool peeps. Let us know, motherfuckers.

Guys, if there’s one thing I learned through my ridiculous week-long effort to get back to the UK after being stranded by volcano ash madness, it’s that no mode of transportation or queue for said mode of transportation is complete without access to some sort of booze. The only tolerable part of the last 38 hours of travel was the ferry across the channel because there was a bar, while the rest of the debacle was mainly pain and suffering. So take note, sports fans.

      Duly noted.

Also loves that all our posts are still about alcohol, even a year after college. Either something is wrong with us or something is extremely extremely right.
